Kindling the Flame

Sometimes, when attempting to explain to education clients how I work and why, it can be a bit difficult. To be perfectly honest, schools place a great deal of trust in me to deliver images that reveal the underlying spirit of who they are while providing a glimpse of their nurturing environments.  Environments that create meaningful and often lasting relationships between students, faculty, coaches, and counselors.  The challenge for me is doing it with images and not words.

It's not as difficult as it may seem.  I am an acute observer of what is actually happening in a classroom or on an athletic field or a playground.  I must be very careful to be minimally invasive with my camera.  When a teacher provides a thought provoking classroom setting and students are naturally engaged, my job is to identify those ah-hah moments of discovery and make them timeless.

I value your comments about my work.

United Way of Central NM

Seventeen years ago I was contacted by a truly amazing human being by the name of Joanne Fine.  She had seen a bit of my work and wanted to hire ME and no one else.  That had never happened before.  Joanne is from New York.  Her stories of her work for charitable organizations were riveting and they were numerous.  And she could tell them faster than my South Carolina ears could hear them.  I couldn't walk away.  I couldn't stop listening... and I couldn't say no.  It's been quite a journey with the images created usually on the fly, no scouting, no styling, always the real people, always the truth and always with the beautiful gift of serendipity. Thanks for bringing me along Joanne. Here are some of the images from the 2013 campaign.

Ultimate Land Cruiser

Tim McGrath is a principal and lead designer at 3 Advertising. This is his Land Cruiser FJ45 Troopy.  It's the only 1966 FJ45 in existence.  I shot it for an upcoming 4 Wheeler Magazine story.  A great day.  Planning to shoot more when we can put it through it's paces in a more extreme environment.
